ABOUT
Julie Quy is the Chef/Owner of Julie’s Cooking Academy, the latest step in a varied and successful career spanning over 30 years. The seed was planted at the tender age of 8 when, in pursuit of her cookery badge at Brownies, she made Yorkshire puddings so huge that they touched the top of the oven. The excited reaction from her fellow Brownies ignited a passion to make an impact with cooking and to share her love of food with others - a passion that continues today.
Career ambitions thus established, Julie progressed to catering college where she gained a fistful of qualifications (City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 and 711 patisserie), swiftly followed by a position in a 4* hotel in Hertfordshire. After a valuable 3 years spent earning her stripes, she moved on to several different restaurants, including an eye-opening year working around the Caribbean, before returning to the UK to enter the challenging world of event catering.
During this stage of her career, Julie became a successful and much sought-after caterer for parties, weddings and events, and even catered for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. She also racked up several awards and competed in national cooking competitions, including ‘Chef of the Year’ where she twice made it down to the final five.
Sharing her skills and knowledge with others seemed to be the next natural step and she quickly found this is really where her passion lies. And so Julie’s Cooking Academy was born, with a mission to give everyone the confidence and ability to cook fresh, exciting meals. We all need to take time out of our busy lives, to re- connect with friends and family, and to share our love of food and Julie’s Cooking Academy is the perfect place to start.
